The term sangeet is sanskrit, which then was translated into English means sung together. This ceremony takes place two or three days before the wedding, and in the old days it was reserved for women only. Sangeet is a time for celebrating, singing, dancing and joking. It is the perfect time for wedding guests to meet and get to know each other. The bridal and groom will perform and so will people from their families; they rehearse for a few days before the sangeet. After this, the guests enjoy beautiful hor d'oeuvres and sweet dishes. Amidst celebration, ladies, crack jokes, tease the bride, reminisce their youthful days and bless the bride for a prosperous married life. The environment becomes quite emotional for the bride and her parents because they will be seperated. To make it more clear, the sangeet is more for the bride and her bridesmaids- but now these ceremonies have modernised and include everyone.
